Interviewzeit!

Pennlive.com führte vor kurzem ein Interview mit Peter, hier ein paar Auszüge...

'Twilight' star shows his human side

In a telephone interview, the actor talked about his favorite causes, how he just might wear fangs for Halloween and what he thinks about "New Moon."

How is filming going for "Eclipse"?
I'm having a great time. The action continues to develop more and more. In "New Moon," we have some action with werewolves, and in "Eclipse," we get threatened by newborn vampires.

How much training have you done to prepare for "Eclipse?"

It's a lot of stunt-fight training. You learn basic moves, and they choreograph pieces to shoot. We had weeks and weeks of fight training. The first week, it's the Karate Kid painting the fence, the wax on, wax off. Once you learn the basic moves, you build on it. It's fun.

What is it like playing a father to people a few years younger than you?
I think it was easier in the first movie because they didn't know me that well so they treated me with more respect. Now that they know me better, I'm the older brother. On camera, it plays. I think for Carlisle, the way he moves, walks and talks, there is something in there that speaks wisdom. And he just reads older. He's not as contemporary as everyone else.

Had you read the "Twilight" books before signing on to do the movies?

I did read the first three; that's all that was available at the time. Since then, I read the fourth. It helps to know the whole world. When you are acting, the more information you can soak up to build and develop your character, the better.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of a fourth Twilight movie?
When we finished the first "Twilight," nobody knew we were doing a second one, so who knows? I think if "New Moon" does well, they'll do a fourth one. Unfortunately, it's not up to me. (laughs)
...

What do you love about playing a vampire?
It's interesting because they are so unlike any other vampires. I don't look at them as vampires. Carlisle, if anything, wants to be human. For me, it's a study on vampires wanting to be human. That being said, the way they walk, their being is very different than humans.
...

How did you get interested in Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation?
I read the story and thought it was heartbreaking. This family had a girl diagnosed with cancer and she would go out to do lemonade stands to raise money for a cure for cancer. Her parents, to their credit, did this nationwide where kids can get kits and set up lemonade stands. So it's children helping children. As a kid, I always liked doing lemonade stands. What a great way to have fun and do some good.
