Eastwood’s triptych follows a French journalist who briefly “crosses over” when she almost drowns during a tsunami; a London lad whose twin brother is killed in a road accident; and a psychic who can talk to the dead but would rather not. Damon as the reluctant spiritualist is the most interesting story, but the film ties its threads together somewhat awkwardly, and the “truth” about death seems both vague and pedestrian.

Screenings: No TIFF screenings left; film scheduled to open widely on Oct. 22.
