Even though E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy was originally a Twilight fan-fiction series called "Master of the Universe," she doesn't think it'd be a good idea for the Twilight series films' leads Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to star in the movie version of her book.
Speaking at a U.K. fan event, she was asked whether she'd like for
Pattinson and Stewart to appear in the film, reprising her
transformative version of their old characters, "Bella" and "Edward" who
she changed to "Ana" and "Christian." She reportedly answered, "I think it would be too strange ! It would just be .. Uggh weird!"As for the story's Twilight-esque origins, James said, "The characters grew; they started that way and developed into completely their own people. It was fascinating getting to know them and know them very well. I didn’t see an outline straight away; I had no idea where these books were going to go. I just went with them. As I go to know them they grew a life of their own."
